Abstract

The pediatric population in the United States is overwhelmed with children with acute and chronic infections. Acute respiratory infection is a major cause of illness and death worldwide. In children, acute respiratory infection is the major cause of death outside the neonatal period in developing countries.¹ The overuse of antibiotics for mild infections can lead to antibiotic resistant illnesses.²
