The Cerebrospinal Fluid Venturi: Hypothesis of CSF Lift

Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research ~ November 11, 2008 ~ Pages 1-7

Abstract

Free and unimpeded cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF) flow has been acknowledged to be of import in a variety of chiropractic techniques in use today. It is suggested that there are discernible mechanisms of CSF flow, hitherto unexamined, that will help in the understanding of its circulation.

Following a review of literature, hypotheses of CSF flow are briefly reviewed and applications of Venturi systems being discovered within the human body are examined.

It is proposed that a Venturi system may be responsible for a part of the mechanism of CSF return to the superior sagittal sinus. Since free flow of CSF is one facet of a subluxation-free state of being, a better understanding of fluid dynamics may assist us in our prime directive as chiropractors.
