The Chiropractic Care of a Pregnant Patient Experiencing Multiple Fetal Positional Changes

Abstract
Objective: To describe the chiropractic care of a pregnant patient with pregnancy-related complaints and breech fetus.
Clinical Features: A 30-year- old nurse-midwife presented for chiropractic consultation and care at 34 weeks of gestation with her baby in a transverse lie malpresentation. Her previous child delivered in an occipito-posterior malposition. The patient’s presenting chief complaint was mild, sharp left hip pain and right sided sciatica which increased when assuming the standing position after sitting for long periods of time.
Intervention and Outcome: The patient was cared for over a 6 week period. She received care using Diversified and Thompson Techniques along with Webster Technique. The patient’s presenting complaints resolved with a trial of care and she delivered naturally.
Conclusion: This case report provides supporting evidence on the effectiveness of chiropractic as described in the care of a pregnant woman.
