Abstract

Background: Understanding how to properly use and interpret statistical tests is important to derive appropriate meaning from scientific data.

Discussion: T-tests are statistical tests that are used to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference between two groups on an interval scale. The needs of chiropractic researchers and field doctors regarding t-tests are different. Chiropractic researchers should have a firm understanding of how t-tests are utilized. Field doctors, in contrast, need to observe p-values and understand the relevance of effect size

Conclusion: It is important to properly use statistical tests to ensure the internal and external validity of research findings. A common test used in research is the t-test. The t-test is utilized to determine differences between two groups using an interval scale.
